Medical researchers have been working to develop sophisticated drugs which selectively target tissues or cell types within the human body as a way to increase drug effectiveness and decrease toxic side-effects.

To create a new type of safe and highly effective drug class, Centrose recently discovered that small molecule drugs which by themselves are potent but display off-target side effects could be conjugated to antibodies to target those drugs to specific cell types. This discovery led the way to the development of the EDC System.
